Like the Scouts – Be Prepared, Especially for Hurricanes

September is the peak of Hurricane Season. In recent years, we have been by-passed by major storms, but those who remember Hugo in September, 1989 know what one big storm can do.  At Pee Dee Electric, we had to re-build nearly 85% of our lines.  Although we had a lot of help from cooperatives from unaffected states, it still took several weeks of round-the-clock working to get all members’ power restored. We’re not wild about doing that again and we know you’re not enthusiastic about losing power for an extended length of time. However, we will, at some point, be in the path of a major storm. That’s why it’s always good to be prepared.

Please go to Hurricane Safety and Emergency Kit for information on how to protect your family in case of a Hugo-type hurricane. It’s better to say, “I’m glad I was prepared,” instead of, “I wish I had been ready.”
